Metric Operators for Quasi-Hermitian Hamiltonians and Symmetries of Equivalent Hermitian Hamiltonians
We give a simple proof of the fact that every diagonalizable operator that has a real spectrum is quasi-Hermitian and show how the metric operators associated with a quasiHermitian Hamiltonian are related to the symmetry generators of an equivalent Hermitian Hamiltonian. PACS number: 03.65.-w
متن کاملNonautonomous Hamiltonians
We present a theory of resonances for a class of nonautonomous Hamiltonians to treat the structural instability of spatially localized and time-periodic solutions associated with an unperturbed autonomous Hamiltonian. The mechanism of instability is radiative decay, due to resonant coupling of the discrete modes to the continuum modes by the time-dependent perturbation. This results in a slow t...
متن کاملMapping local Hamiltonians of fermions to local Hamiltonians of spins
We show how to map local fermionic problems onto local spin problems on a lattice in any dimension. The main idea is to introduce auxiliary degrees of freedom, represented by Majorana fermions, which allow us to extend the Jordan–Wigner transformation to dimensions higher than one. We also discuss the implications of our results in the numerical investigation of fermionic systems.
متن کاملUniversal quantum Hamiltonians
Quantum many-body systems exhibit a bewilderingly diverse range of behaviours. Here, we prove that all the physics of every other quantum many-body system is replicated in certain simple, “universal” quantum spin-lattice models. We first characterise precisely and in full generality what it means for one quantum many-body system to replicate the entire physics of another. We then fully classify...
متن کاملHamiltonians for Reduced Gravity
A generalised canonical formulation of gravity is devised for foliations of spacetime with codimension n ≥ 1. The new formalism retains n-dimensional covariance and is especially suited to 2 + 2 decompositions of spacetime. It is also possible to use the generalised formalism to obtain boundary contributions to the 3 + 1 Hamiltonian. Pacs numbers: 04.20.Fy, 04.70.Dy Typeset using REVTEX
